Noise measurements are taken using UKAS calibrated Sound level meters over a minimum of a typical 24 hour period, however a shortened assessment can be carried out if agreed with the Local Authority.
Our reports clearly demonstrate measured sound levels experienced at the development site which are then compared against British Standards (BS 8233, BS5228 etc), World Health Organisation Standards and the National Planning Policy Framework (NPPF) to determine acceptability of the measured noise levels.
Where mitigation measure are required to reduce noise to an acceptable level these are discussed and agreed with the Design Team, and then incorporated into the report.

Generally during this time other trades can remain within the building so long as the external envelope remains closed (external doors and windows) and internal doors open.
Typically the test takes between twenty minutes to a couple of hours. However, this all depends of the size of the building, the test locations, the ability to create stable pressure in the building and unfortunately the controllable influence of the British weather.
